Kortney’s Last Show Podcast, EP 49: Today I Canceled My Cable; Final Four (Kentucky Style)

On This Episode of The Last Show Podcast hosted by, Kortney Shane Williams

I have officially canceled my cable (it was actually me and my wife’s cable, but she doesn’t care if I take all the credit for it), and it feels great. Enough of Comcast’s foolishness.

The only reason I had cable was for sports. However, now with Sling TV I can get sports without a cable package, and it’s on $20. They also gave me a free Amazon Fire Stick, which makes me think this is a bad idea, but who cares. I went from paying $124 to $60. The downside is that I don’t get paper view. That means I have to find a place to watch the Pacquiao v. Mayweather fight. Chances are I will be in a Mexican bar, which could possible end bad. So ending my cable could end up with me paying a hospital bill which would end up costing more than $124.… Read More

Kortney’s Last Show Podcast, EP 48: Kendrick Lamar, To Pimp A Butterfly Album Review; J. Cole, 2014 Forrest Hill Drive

Welcome back to The Last Show Podcast.

On this episode I talk about Kendrick Lamar’s new album, To Pimp A Butterfly. I call it an album review, but I’m not even sure it’s a review. Heck, I’m not even sure it’s a hip-hop album. It is a great work of art that confuses me. I don’t know what Kendrick is talking about. However, I spend time talking about it, and breaking it down.

I also talk about rediscovering the J. Cole, 2014 Forrest Hill Drive album. I heard it when it came out, and I wasn’t that impressed. It was probably because I soured on J. Cole after the Born Sinner album. I wasn’t a fan of that album. I thought it was too clunky. So when 2014 Forrest Hill Drive can out, I probably didn’t give it a fair shake. So I glad I got the opportunity to rediscover the album, while was traveling.… Read More

(Stand-Up Style) Comedy Show, less than two weeks away. Perfect time to talk, Breastfeeding on the Bus

Why is Breastfeeding on the bus a part of the title? Well it makes strangers click on the link, and it’s a manifesto for my show (Stand-Up Style).

Sunday April 5th 7 PM at Naked City Brewery in Greenwood

(Stand-Up Style) is a comedy showcase that features international touring Stand-Up comedians, and some up-and-coming local openers.

It is not and open mic or amateur night.
It’s a professional showcase, that’s guaranteed to be a great night of comedy, and not one that turns your one night out, into a 3 hour marathon of unfunny; which ends up being more depressing than entertaining. Leaving you thinking, “I should have stayed home and watched Seinfeld reruns.”

Tickets are available now on Brown Paper Tickets

NFL, Best and Worst NFC 1st Round Draft Picks Since 2000

Remember when I said the NFC version of the best and worst 1st round draft picks where soon to come. Well here it is, but first check out the best and worst AFC 1st round draft picks.

For all you’ll that still decided not to click the link or can’t read the headline. Here are the guidelines:

The NFL Draft, maybe the biggest crapshoot in sports. Every fan hoping one player can turn the fortunes of the franchise. GM’s and coaches fired or praised over 3 days. Here is a list of the best and worst picks since 2000 each team has made.

(I did not include the 2014 draft because it’s waaaaaaaaay too early to judge)

New York Giants

Best: Aaron Ross (2007 #20)

Solid corner, Giants 1st round draft picks are pretty barren

Runner Up: Jason Pierre Paul (2010 #15)

So far one great year, but with New York media you’d think he was Babe Ruth.… Read More

New England Patriots

Best: Richard Seymour (2001, #6)

This 6 time All Pro was the best player on the Patriots during their early Belichick years. He was the rock on defense for their 3 Super Bowl wins

Runner Up: Logan Mankins (2005, #32)

5 time All Pro fatty

Worst: Daniel Graham (2002 #21)

Belichick envisioned his TE driven offense early, but Daniel Graham never had more then 38 catches and 409 yards in a season. But he never killed a guy.

Runner Up: Lawrence Marony (2006 #21)

Never became the feature back the Patriots wanted, or needed.… Read More

Kanye West, The Most Creative Artist of This Time (All Day Live Brit Awards)

After reading the headline, a lot of people could think I’m out of my mid. However, those people either haven’t been paying attention, or they’re so deadest on the idea that Kanye West is “The Most Hated Man in America” that they refuse to acknowledge the talent.

I may be guilty of being a prisoner of the moment, but this may be the greatest performance I’ve ever seen (Ever, ever ever, ever ever). The only reason I’m not being absolute, is because I need a couple days to let this sink in. I saw the performance for the first time today, and I have to let it breath. If I claim it’s the best, some dude in Boise will send me a clip of Elvis performing Rappers Delight with The Beatles and I have to retract my statement. But that doesn’t change my claim that Kanye West is the most creative artist of this time.… Read More

Kortney’s Last Show, EP 47: Madonna Falls, Llamas on the loose, and What Color is the Dress

I open the podcast talking about Madonna Falling off stage (I actually open the show talking about someone owing me some money. I need my money). A while ago I talked about Busta Rhymes being too old to be hip-hopping, when he face planted into the second row of the crowd at a concert. Now we can add Madonna to the list of artist too old to be hip-hopping. After she fell on stage while wearing a cape. That’s right Madonna was wearing a cape.

I also talk about “What Color is the Dress” and those llamas that gripped the nation.

I close the show talking James Harden kicking LeBron James in the groin. He should have been thrown out of the game.
