Taphouse Sessions (Comedy Show) is back at Naked City Sunday Aug. 3rd

The Taphouse Sessions is back at Naked City Brewery and Taphouse in Greenwood Seattle, Sunday August 3rd. After the success of the first show we are back for more.

The Taphouse Sessions is a monthly comedy show featuring National touring headliners and good up-in-coming local comics. With the operative word in the previous sentence being “good.” You will not see the same stale acts that appear at most comedy shows. That turns your one night out, into a 3 hour marathon of unfunny; which ends up being more depressing than entertaining. Leaving you thinking, “I should have stayed home and watched Seinfeld reruns.”

Tickets are available now for $7 advance purchase price

About the Producers:

The Taphouse Sessions is produced by John Gardner, Brett Hamil, and Kortney Shane Williams. All of the are Seattle based comedians that are accomplished in their own right – which you can read more about below – that work together to produce a quality show.… Read More

The Last Show Podcast, EP 15: When is it okay to bite someone (thanks Luis Suarez)

So Luis Suarez of Uruguay bit a man during the World Cup. By now it’s bite heard round the world. Every sports station worth it’s salt has been talking about this bite for days. They have broken down how hard bit, if it were an accidental bite, and if he would every bite again.

So rather than regurgitate everything you’ve already heard. I decided to ask the bigger question, “When is it okay to bite someone?” It’s not as easy to answer as you may think. There are times that I believe that it’s okay and may even be necessary to go H.A.M. on someone. However there are stipulations and scenarios where you can absolutely not bite someone.

Rather than write about it I did a podcast. Please enjoy and subscribe on iTunes.

Is it the San Antonio Spurs?

After an amazing 4-1 victory over the reigning Champion Miami Heat, the San Antonio Spurs have brought back their entire championship basketball team with the opt-in of Tim Duncan for a whopping . . . $10.4 million. Wow.

On the other hand, following four consecutive NBA Finals appearances, the Miami Heat are poised to lose the entirety of their core . . . or have three players opt back in (Lebron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh– listed in order of importance to the franchise) at better than $20 million each. . . . Wow.

So I write today wondering, what’s going on in the water down in San Antonio? Miami fans often like to talk about how their players should be celebrated, lauded for their desire to take “less money” to play together. However, the numbers above make it clear the “sacrifices” that these players have made aren’t as tangible as some might like us to believe.… Read More

Did Pat Riley go preemptive comic sans slave owner rant on LeBron James?

Open Letter to Fans from Cavaliers Majority Owner Dan Gilbert |

In the interest of full disclosure, I’m a Cavaliers fan. So I may have some blind spots when it comes to my team. For instance, I think Dion Waiters is a good player, and Anthony Bennett will eventually make an all-star team. In addition, I’ve never seen a problem with the infamous letter Dan Gilbert wrote after LeBron let Cleveland. Sure is was heavy handed, crass, and inappropriate. But it was the exact way every Cavs fan was feeling. My only wish is that he would have let me contribute a few lines. I could have added some comedic levity, while bringing up his fraudulent elbow injury. The same elbow injury that caused him to shoot left handed free throws, yet was magically healed after healed he left Cleveland.

During Gilbert’s letter rant, he use some language that was crazy. Because that’s what you do in a good rant. It’s not officially a rant unless you sprinkle in some crazy.… Read More

The Cleveland Cavaliers must ditch Joel Embiid

The Cleveland Cavaliers have defied all logic by getting the number 1 pick, not once, not twice, “not three . . .” Now they have the first pick again, in the best draft since 2003 – you know, the one that featured Lebron James, Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, and the list goes on, but I digress.

On a side note, for everyone that thinks the Cleveland Cavaliers should be “banned” from picking first, ask yourself this question: “Would I want to be one of only four teams in the eastern conference to go to the NBA Finals in the last 10 years, with a guy who is one of the 5 best players to ever play the game? And, then have that stripped from me, after The Decision without warning?” The consolation for having that level of success and relevance leave my franchise???

Five top 5 picks over the next four years .… Read More

The Cleveland Cavaliers higher David Blatt . . . This is going to be good!

So the Cleveland Cavaliers have hired David Blatt to be their head coach.

Who the hell is David Blatt?!
I know David Thompson. I know Kyla Pratt. But I don’t know David Blatt. As a matter of fact I don’t anyone with the last name, Blatt. Which was probably clear when I injected Kyla Pratt into this explanation.

But the truth is, If David Blatt wins it doesn’t matter what his name is. I do have my suspicions about his capability to be a successful NBA Head Coach. I admit I might be a little less suspicious if I had watched his coaching career, but alas, I don’t get the Macabbi Tel Aviv sports package.

However, I did hear that he played at Princeton University and that he also runs many elements of “The Princeton Offense,” and this does lead me to question how successful he will be in the NBA.… Read More

NBA Finals Spurs, Heat Game 1: the funkiest game in NBA history (James Brown style)

As I watched Game 1 of the NBA Finals last night, I couldn’t help but think, “How funky is it in that arena? It has to smell like a high school football locker room in the middle of hell.” There is no way everyone wore deodorant last night. You know Tony Parker and Boris Diaw didn’t wear deodorant, because French people don’t believe in that. I found that out at the age of 13 while waiting in line at an amusement park. Since that day I will never view Disney World as the happiest place on earth.

People keep trying to compare last night’s conditions to The Boston Garden in the 80s. However you have to remember that everyone knew there was no air conditioning going into the game. So they could prepare accordingly. You could take a couple showers, and maybe double up on the deodorant. I know when I go to my grandmother’s church.… Read More

Do you love the San Antonio Spurs, or is that Miami Heat hate?

So I’m supposed to believe that everyone loves the San Antonio Spurs. The team that for the last 10 years made everyone cringe at the thought that they may make The NBA Finals. This is the team that doesn’t hesitate to bench it’s starters for nationally televised games. These are games that you have planned your evening around. So you sit down to watch Tim Duncan, and end up turning off the TV, while some European guy attempts a bank shot. The Spurs don’t interviews and if you dare ask Gregg Popovich a question, he may stare a hole through your skin. The Spurs are the single team in the NBA that don’t give a damn about fans outside of their arena. They are the team everyone should hate. And normally you would hate them, but they’re playing the Miami Heat.

People hate success, arrogance, and shoveling their driveway. So it’s only natural that they would root against the Heat.… Read More
